, we are quick (perhaps a little too quick), to point out the inherent design flaws, abnormalities and general unsightliness of the devices that pass through our hands each day. In the instance of the MFC-6490CW though, that should probably be changed to “hands, feet, legs and all matter of the anatomy” as this printer is huge.

HP Officejet Pro L7590

The only phrase that comes to mind when describing the L7590 is “hulking behemoth”. This thing is big — weighing in at just over 15 kilograms and with dimensions of 35.6×52.5×46.6cm it’s certainly not going to go unnoticed in an office.
At the front sits the control panel, with dedicated sections for scanning, faxing, a dial/number pad and additional print buttons on the side. There’s also a small screen which, when idle, displays the ink (more…)

Epson Stylus Photo TX800FW

The Epson TX800FW printer is a multifunctional printer that can also copy, scan and fax documents. The AU$399 device is faster than other inkjet printers, and we like the large LCD screen and the built-in CD drive, but it’s severely marred by buggy software and flimsy components. We spent more time taking apart the paper trays, fixing paper jams, and reinstalling drivers than actually using the printer. If you can actually get the printer to work (more…)
